This paper argues that disciplines within educational sciences should exist and without identifying such disciplines the usage of the word “sciences” is improper and misleading. Further, an attempt will be made to identify three of these disciplines. Finally, it will be argued that mathematics didactics is one of these disciplines, a theoretical foundation will be presented, and a reflection on how this discipline could influence classroom teaching will be discussed.
