Abstract
We consider a generative art scheme based on one-dimensional chip-firing cellular automata. Using a variety of
search techniques, we identify chip-firing automata with interesting transient phase behavior. Our artworks are
visualizations of this transient behavior. We also consider mathematical questions related to the dynamics of onedimensional
chip-firing automata.
